Work has started on a $13.8 million renovation to convert a former Sports Authority retail location at 3134 N. Clark in Lakeview to a medical center.
Advocate Health Care had earlier announced it will be opening the center at the 42,000-sq. ft. location.
The new facility will have room to expand, with plans for immediate care in the future, DNAinfo has reported. Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and Advocate Medical Group are partnering on the project.
The Boldt Company is the project’s general contractor, according to the building permit issued on Jan. 12. Subtrades include: Electrical – Huen Electric, Inc.; plumber/plumbing, refrigeration and ventilation – Martin Petersen Co. Inc.
