Plote Construction Management is proposing a $10 million project that would repurpose and expand a former WalMart in East Dundee into a multi-tenant industrial building.

The project would include renovations to the existing building and the addition of two smaller structures in the existing parking lot.

The Daily Herald quotes Plote representative, Kurt Kresmery, as saying the project could bring hundreds of jobs and several new businesses to the village, including the potential for manufacturers and distributors.

WalMart vacated the property over the summer to relocate to a new superstore in Carpentersville.

The Herald also reported that a “group of investors proposed creating a Turkish Trade Center in the village to improve trade and business relations between Turkey and the U.S. The project would include building industrial structures on the former Wal-Mart site and adjacent property.”

Plote has said their plans would complement the trade center. The first step however is acquisition of the land and rezoning for industrial use.
