NAWIC Chicago builds for the future with events and initiatives

The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Chicago Metro chapter January meeting will explore the dangers of distracted driving, with presentations from Brittany Long, Blinderman Construction Company and Teresa Kee, NES Rentals.

The meeting will be on Jan. 1 starting with cocktails at  6:00 p.m., Buca di Beppo, Yorktown Center, 90 Yorktown Mall Dr., Lombard (Members: $40, non-members $45). RSVP to Nora Degnan at norad@thorneassociates.com.

“Our Women in Construction (WIC) Week Committee has been hard at work and a location for our WIC Week Fundraising Event has been finalized,” chapter president Nora Degnan said in a note to members. “It will be held on Thursday, March 10th 2016, at the Public House in Chicago. You all should have received a save the date. As you know we will be raising funds for MAGIC Camp. This stands for Mentoring a Girl in Construction. The camp will be held over a one week period during the summer of 2106. We will establishing a committee for MAGIC Camp in January. Please consider signing up. We will need all the help we can get in order to make this camp a success.”

“In addition to our fundraiser, NAWIC Chicago Metro Chapter will be represented at ASA on Tuesday, March 8th 2016. We will be looking for volunteers to sign up as booth representative throughout the day. This is always a good opportunity to see existing and potential clients, while at the same time getting the word out about NAWIC. Finally we are planning our WIC Week Food Drive for Saturday, March 12th 2016. This will be held at the Palatine Walmart. A second location is in the works.”
