IIT begins work on $12.5 million main campus building renovation

The Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) has started work on a $12.5 million renovation at its main campus.

The project at 3100 S. Michigan Ave. includes an “all new exterior enclosure, interior partitions, mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment.” the building permit issued on Nov. 20 says. The existing structure, foundations and core remain.

The general contractor is Gilbane Building Company, Inc. Subtrades include: Electrical – Gurtz Electric Company; plumber/plumbing – Hill Mechanical Corp.; masonry – Restore Masonry LLC; and refrigeration and ventilation – Mechanical Services, Aurora, IL.
