The Fox Valley Associated General Contractors has reported that the Illinois governor’s office has “confirmed that it intends to pursue a bond sale in January that will provide much-needed capital funding”, following the Illinois Construction Industry Committee (ICIC) and the Illinois Mechanical and Specialty Contractors Association initiative in September to jointly “urge Governor Rauner to make payments to Illinois contractors for work previously completed under the FY ’15 budget.”

About $400 million of the funds generated from the bond sales will go to transportation projects, the association reports in its newsletter. “About $80 million will be used to pay contractors for work on Fiscal Year ’15 Capital Development Board projects.”

“ICIC strongly supports this bond sale and will continue to push for regularly scheduled bond sales to ensure more consistent and reliable payments to contractors,” the association reported.
