Work is underway on the $16-million reconstruction and widening of Buffalo Grove Road.

The road from Deerfield Parkway to Route 22 will be completely reconstructed to provide two lanes of travel in each direction. It includes a center median and turn lanes at all major intersections. A new traffic signal will be installed at the intersection of Thompson Blvd. Crosswalks at each street crossing will be improved and upgraded to ADA standards, according to the project’s website.

Crews will also connect the bike path gap between Aptakisic Rd. and Brandywyn Lane to make it easier for residents to walk and bike to local parks, schools and shopping areas.

Storm sewer installation and excavation work in the medians is in progress. Crews also continue storm sewer installation and are paving temporary pavement in the medians.

Construction will take place over a two-year period. It is set to complete in 2021.
