The annual Construction Expo & Safety Conference organizers have posted the conference’s schedule.

The March 2 and 3 virtual event is hosted by the Association of Subcontractors and Affiliates (ASA Chicago) and the Construction Safety Council.

“While presented in a new format, this two-day event continues to offer valuable opportunities for business-to-business commerce, safety education, and professional networking,” organizers say. “It remains the premier gathering for the construction industry.”

“This year’s gathering will be in a bold, virtual format in response to the coronovirus pandemic,” the statement says.

“To ensure the health and safety of all participants, ASAC and CSC will utilize new technologies and resources to connect businesses and individuals during two days of live education and interaction from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. Virtual trade show exhibits will be complemented by 15 different one-hour sessions.”

Keynote speaker Bill Heffernan of ScreenSafe Inc. will address: “The Impact of Construction Culture and Tradition on Employee Mental Health.”

“The construction trades have been the domain of confident, hardy individuals who take pride in their work, speak plainly, and do whatever is necessary to get the job done,” show organizers say in describing Heffernan’s presentation. “This workplace culture does not leave much space for expressing emotions, uncertainty, fear, or vulnerability. Learn how to create an environment that supports making healthy choices, practicing self-care, and watching out for co-workers. It can be done – using these practical tips and tactics to shift employee attitudes and responses.”

Heffernan has spent more than 25 years managing drug-free workplace testing programs for clients in Illinois, California, Indiana, Nevada, and Iowa.

The Virtual Safety Conference sessions will include live question and answer sessions with presenters.

Participants can enhance their industry knowledge and expand their professional network by joining from home or office – or home office,” the organizers say. “CEUs will be awarded for all training attended live or via recording.”
