The Construction Industry Service Corporation (CISCO) is urging its members to complete the Illinois Department of Labor prevailing wage survey.
“The deadline for the Illinois Department of Labor’s (IDOL) Prevailing Wage Survey has been extended from June 30 to August 1, 2016,” CISCO says in an email notification. “Under the Prevailing Wage Law, the IDOL has the responsibility to “investigate and ascertain the prevailing rate of wages for each of the 102 counties in the State.”
The importance of completing the survey, of course, is that the more contractors who report higher union wages, the higher the base point will be for the “prevailing wage” — effectively reducing the risk of competition from lower-cost non-union contractors.
The survey is restricted to businesses which can provide a Department of Labor user ID.
