Cambean Hospitality has received a $7.68 million building permit for renovations and alterations to the second through ninth floors of the Pittsfield Building at 55 E. Washington St.

The permit says the hotel will have a maximum of 191 rooms with ancillary services but without banquet rooms.

Spartan Contractors, Inc. is the general contractor and Paramount Plumbing and Sewer will handle the plumbing, both listed at the same address in Park Ridge, IL, while the electrical contractor is AMI Electric. Co., based in Wheeling, IL. Refrigeration and ventilation will be handled by Best Air Chicago, Inc. (The “under construction” website for Spartan provides the 55 E. Washington site as its address.)

Published reports say civil litigation has recently been filed relating to the building, which includes both the commercial-use floors, which the developers are converting to a hotel, and residential floors.
