It’s a whopping building permit — $225 million — as Grant Park Tower at 1200 S. Indiana takes shape.

Earlier, Chicago authorities issued a $64 million permit for the partial superstructure of the 76-story (80-level) residential tower, “with 792 dwelling units, ground floor retail and 12 levels of parking.”

The revised permit increases the number of dwelling units to 800 and appears to drop the parking by one level to 11.

Once complete, the tower will be the 13th tallest building in Chicago, making it the tallest skyscraper in the South Loop and one of the tallest residential skyscrapers in the city.

James McHugh Construction Co. is the general contractor. Subtrades include: Electrical – Gurtz Electric Co.; and plumbing and ventilation – AMS Mechanical Services, Inc. James McHugh is handling its own masonry work.
