The Opus Group, a group of commercial real estate development, construction and design companies headquartered in Minneapolis, has announced on August 19 that they have received the contract to expand the Taiwanese firm King Shan LLCs existing 35,000-sq.-ft. facility, constructed by Opus in 2010, in West Dundee village of Kane County, IL. Opus will construct 44,158 sq.-ft. of new industrial and office space directly adjacent to it.

The new facility will allow King Shan, a leading manufacturer of steel wire and metal fabrication products, to expand its production and distribution operations. Constructed on a 2.4-acre site in Oakview Corporate Park, the building will feature approximately 41,000 sq.-ft. of warehouse space with 24-ft. clear height ceilings, 1,550 sq.-ft. of office, 3 exterior loading docks and 2 drive-in doors, reports Rejournals.com. The new facility will be connected to the old through a graded driveway, ensuring optimal integration and functionality.

Construction is expected to start this fall, with a projected Jan. 2015 completion.

While Opus Design Build, LLC. is the project’s design-builder, the architect and engineer of record will be Opus AE Group, L.L.C., according to Opus group’s news board.

“Our team is honored to have the opportunity to build on our past success with King Shan as the company looks to meet the needs of its U.S.-based customers,” saidJim Caesar, Opus Design Build’s regional vice-president.

Noel Liston of Darwin Realty and Development represented King Shan, LLC and Opus in this transaction.
